Seascapes of Blackpool

Blackpool is one of the large seaside towns and major tourist location on the north-west coast of England.

If you have been to Blackpool, the first thing that comes to your mind must be the Pleasure Beach, busy Promenade, Illuminations, Blackpool Tower, and the Amusements. That is the perspective of people who have lived and visited Blackpool before. But this project is about someone who never lived close to the sea in his life moves to Blackpool and begins to see the place and it’s inner beauty in a different way, and started to document it through photographs.

In this project I intend to show the different side of Blackpool, a place of calm and comfort to the Mind. Even years after the beginning of the pandemic, life was strange and difficult because of its aftermath. In stressful moments like these, walking through the shores of Blackpool with my camera and seeking solitude while finding the hidden beauty of this place was kind of therapy for me. I have been using photography as a therapeutic tool for a while now. It helps me to reconnect with the world around me.

It became a routine to walk around with my camera. exploring sublimity and capturing the sense of the place in unassuming corners of the seascapes. In a way this project is also to show how blessed I am to be living in Blackpool. We often ignore the qualities in life and we take it for granted. So I am here trying to show how emotionally attached I am to the place already.

Geographically, Blackpool South side and North Side are very different. Similarly, I have approached both sides in two ways in this project. On the south side I mostly walk down the beach as well as on the north side I photographed from high places. When I looked at the photos taken, I realised that it is an apt approach. However, I believe the photographs will show that these two sides are so beautiful that they are incomparable.
